🔟 Things I’ve Learned in the First Year of My ✨30s✨

• Magic doesn’t just happen, you create it: Life feels fuller when I make my own moments special instead of waiting for them to show up.
• Slowing down works: Life feels easier, calmer, and more intentional when I stop rushing and just let things unfold.
• I am and deserve to be more than what I do for work: Stepping away from teaching taught me that my identity isn’t tied to my job, it’s tied to who I am at my core.
• Vulnerability is strength: Saying the kind thing over the comfortable or admitting I don’t have the answers has deepened my relationships in ways I didn’t expect.
• Parenthood doesn’t erase you, it expands you: I’ve found joy in rediscovering the parts of me outside of being a mom.
• Perfection isn’t the goal: Progress feels lighter, and it actually gets you further.
• Letting go is liberating: Whether it’s grudges or clutter, self judgement or painful pasts, releasing what weighs you down makes room for so much more.
• Kids see the world as it should be: Watching my children experience life reminds me to slow down, find wonder, and choose joy.
• You decide when you “peak”: Zac and I always say 30s will be our prime(until the next decade, of course). We decided that and we’re creating a life of our own design.
• There’s no “right” way to live a good life: My family’s unique path is what makes it ours.

What We’re Tackling This Month: As the year com

What We’re Tackling This Month:

As the year comes to a close, we’re diving into some small steps to prepare for our move to the UK in 2026. It’s hard to believe this dream is starting to feel real, and while there’s still a long way to go, we’re checking a few things off our list to help us get there. Here’s what we’re focusing on this month:
1. Donating a Large Item – We’ve made the decision to let go of something significant this month. It’s bittersweet, but it feels good to streamline our lives and take a step toward simplifying before the move.
2. Applying for Passports for the Kids – This is a big one! Getting the kids’ passports is a necessary (and exciting) step. We got ours renewed about a month ago, but kids passports only last 5 years and are much more extensive to get (rightfully so), so we’ll be taking a day with them to make it happen.
3. Clearing Out and Donating – We’re starting to go through closets, storage spaces, and long-forgotten bins. It’s a process, but paring down now means less to deal with later, and we’re happy to pass along things we no longer need.
4. Mapping Out Our Timeline – We intend to have a bit of a slower timeline of about 18 months. We’re setting goals for what needs to happen next year and breaking them into manageable steps. Having a clear picture of the big milestones helps make everything feel less overwhelming.
5. Prioritizing Family Time – With such a big change ahead, we’re focusing on staying grounded and making the most of our time together during the holidays.

Each small step feels like progress, even when the list seems long. It’s overwhelming, but also exciting, and we’re taking it one day (and one task) at a time. If you’ve moved internationally or have tips for getting ahead on things like this, we’d love to hear them!
